WEST PALM BEACH- Riding the first place performances of four wrestlers and quality showings throughout the weight classes, the King’s Academy won the district wrestling title on Saturday for the first time in program history. Ryan Winters, Ryo Ushikubo, Lucas Locatelli, and Ridge Martin won individual titles in their weight classes to propel the Lions to the title in just their third year of existence.
Hosting the tournament for the first time, the Lions had to hold off strong teams in Lincoln Park Academy and Cardinal Newman to claim the title. In addition to the first place finishers, Tyce Porcher, Joel Henning, Alfie Pretel and Jacob Gerstel scored big points for the Lions in runners-up performances. All the first and second place finishers punched their tickets to the regional round this Friday, as well as fourth place finisher Jacob Locatelli.
The regional round will be held at Cardinal Mooney this Friday and Saturday.
