In athletics, we are taught and coached to have high standards and to pursue excellence daily. The definition of excellence can be a very ambiguous term often modified to fit the needs of the person’s desired outcomes. At TKA our mission of pursuing ‘Excellent Athletics with Eternal Impact’ causes us to use a biblical worldview in defining excellence. Colossians 3:23 states, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord.” Matthew 22:37 -38 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all of your mind.” The two go hand in hand, we must work hard and prepare well so that we can glorify the Lord with our effort and increase the desire to pursue him.
The success of TKA Athletics over the past 55 years is a testament to the godly coaches and dedicated athletes that have followed this mission. We have been blessed to capture 169 District Championships, 58 Regional Championships and 49 Individual and Team State Championships. TKA has been well represented in professional athletics and top collegiate programs while averaging over 20 senior athlete commitments each year. Our athletes perform at a high level in the classroom with an average GPA of over 3.75.
The accolades listed above tell half the story, and if that was the end, most would be satisfied. The other half is that we genuinely care for our athletes, and desire to use the mode of athletics to teach life, teamwork, responsibility, encourage their walk with the Lord, and to help raise game changing leaders who will make an impact in our world for Him.
