Eight Lions Headed to Next Level

WEST PALM BEACH- After decorated careers as King’s Academy Lions’ athletes, the athletic journey is not over for a number of TKA seniors. On Wednesday, eight Lions signed letters of intent on National Signing Day to continue their career at the next level.
“Today we celebrate the journey it took to get here,” said athletic director Adam Winters as he addressed signees, their families, and Lions fans. “The price of success includes great sacrifice, and there has been been much payment to get here.”
Kelly Kinney inked her letter of intent to play volleyball at the University of Minnesota, following a TKA career that saw her achieve Under Armour All-American status. She was joined on signing day by teammate Sidney Saltalamacchia who has signed on to continue her volleyball career at Santa Fe College. Over the course of their high school careers, the Lions won five straight district championships.
The state-bound swimming team was well-represented on Signing Day as well. Emma Herrera, a district and regional champion, made her college plans with Liberty University official by signing her national letter of intent. Teammates Kiki Munna (University of West Florida) and Rebekah Foster (Indian River State College) also signed on for their next stop in their athletic careers. All three girls will compete for state championships in this weekend’s FHSAA state finals.
Savanna Webb continued a family tradition of great lacrosse play as the next Webb to sign on to play at the college level. She is headed to division one Lindenwood University for her college lacrosse career.
Finally, the baseball program was represented by a pair of signees in Nolan Payne and Dalton Needle. Payne inked his letter to Villanova University in Philadelphia, while Needle is headed to Emory University in Atlanta.
The King’s Academy has a number of commitments in the winter and spring sports and will host two more signing days (February and May) to honor the next group of athletes who make their college plans official.
