Lions Rebound, Defeat Miami Christian

WEST PALM BEACH- Coming off back to back losses with a shorthanded roster, the TKA varsity girls basketball team was finally healthy and it showed on Tuesday.  With the return of Sofia Rathbun (sickness) and Darudine Dejadin (knee) to the floor, the Lions fired on all cylinders and defeated Miami Christian 60-48.  Junior Jade Jones had one of her best games of the season, scoring 23 points to lead the Lions.

TKA took the lead early and never relinquished it in a complete offensive performance.  In addition to Jones’ big game, Julia Vazquez added 13 points and Bri George dropped in 11.  The return of Rathbun and Dejadin alleviated the Lions depth issues from previous weeks and fortified their ball handling and offensive attack.

The Lions came into the game as the #6 team in 3A and will look to climb back up with the rankings with the roster back at full strength.  Two of the Lions three losses were to FHSAA #1 teams in Somerset Prep (3A) and Southridge (6A), and the third loss was to #8 Somerset Canyons (4A) by one point.  TKA will host their annual Christmas tournament on Friday and Saturday at the LAC, welcoming Norland, Nova, and Palm Beach Gardens.
