Lions Strike Early to Defeat TCA

LAKE WORTH- The King’s Academy varsity boys soccer team grabbed a 3-0 lead over Trinity Christian on Tuesday and then held on late for a 3-2 victory over the Warriors. The win was the sixth on the season for the Lions and sends them into Christmas break with a solid 6-3-1 mark.

The Lions controlled the majority of possession in the first half with a number of scoring chances coming in the first forty minutes.  Oscar Hackney broke through with the first goal on a breakaway that allowed him to slip the ball past the TCA goalie just before the water break.  Shortly after the stoppage, Nick Ahearn had a beautiful goal nearly from the end line and just inside the box.  The Lions took a 2-0 lead into the break, and they added on early in the second half.  Michael Ahearn drove home a goal to give King’s a three-goal advantage.  At that point, the Trinity offense regrouped and controlled much of the possession and scoring chances late.  The Warriors put two goals on the board and had a scoring chance on a set piece on the final play of the game, but the Lions defense held up to preserve the victory.

TKA will return to action on January 9 with a home matchup with a tough Oxbridge Academy team.  Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Kahlert Stadium.
