FORT LAUDERDALE- The TKA swimming program has long been a force on the South Florida swimming scene.  The boys program solidified their spot at the top of the mountain on Friday with a dominating win at regionals to claim their first regional title in five years.

The relay teams led the way for the Lions with TKA claiming both the 200 medley (Sam Strohecker, Yasser Raad, Dillon Van Houtan, and Othniel Foster) and the 400 free (Strohecker, Hamilton Gates, Raad, and Aaron McQueeney). Gates added regional gold in the 100 fly.  The Lions depth overwhelmed the field, picking up points in the second and third spots in numerous events.

The girls had an impressive finish as well, taking second overall.  Tessa Broedell (100 breast) and Selah Austin (100 free) both earned gold in their events, and the pair helped anchor the first place 200 medley relay alongside Cali Jerabek and Kana Ichikawa.

Official state qualifiers will be released soon, but a number of Lions are expected to represent TKA a week from Friday.
