Lions Sweep Swim Titles

BOCA RATON- TKA swimming continued to show they are one of the best programs in the county on Tuesday night, with both the boys and girls teams winning district titles at St. Andrew’s.  The Lions won dual titles for the third time in program history.

The girls were powered to the championship by the efforts of senior Tessa Broedell and junior Selah Austin.  Broedell took gold in the 200 IM and 100 breast, while Austin was first in the 50 free and 100 free.  Both also were champions in the 200 medley relay alongside Cali Jerabek and Kana Ichikawa.

The boys championship effort was bolstered by their typical outstanding relay work.  The Lions took the 200 medley relay which featured Sam Strohecker, Leo Gawriljuk, Yasser Raad, and Othniel Foster.  TKA earned gold in the 400 free relay as well, with Aaron McQueeney, Hamiton Gates, Strohecker and Raad teaming up for the win.  Raad (100 backstroke) and Gates (100 fly) also earned individual championships.

The Lions will head into the regional championship a week from Friday with high hopes of sending a strong contingent of swimmers to the state finals in Ocala.
